We are proud to announce that 2021 will be the 50th anniversary for Bowling Garrard! For 50 years, we have passionately been perfecting our craft to offer an excellent service to our loyal and valued customers and new clients alike.
Just like the electrical engineering industry, Bowling Garrard has developed and come a long way within the past half-decade. We would like to thank each and every one of our customers and team members, making the journey a memorable and enjoyable one.
For those that don’t already know, Bowling Garrard is a family-run affair with generations of the family seeing the trade develop. Not only has the company had close-knit relations with family ties, but also with clients. Many have chosen Bowling Garrard for their repeat electrical requirements.
For the past 50 years, Bowling Garrard has been installing Christmas lights on Crouch Street, Colchester. Geoff Page (standing on the yellow structure) and Don Martin (shown in right picture) are shown with their young apprentice installing the Christmas Lanterns on Crouch Street in the early 1970s.
Geoff Page was employed with Bowling Garrard all his working life from apprentice to senior contract manager. His son, Dave followed in his footsteps. Dave, shown on the ladder in the photo below, is still active connecting up the Crouch Street Christmas lights today. Behind Dave, in the photo is Tesco, the location of the former Page and Scott’s car dealership, the building located in the 1970’s shots of Geoff Page.
Today, Bowling Garrard still chooses to stay active and connected with local businesses and charities such as Essex Wildlife Trust and Reed Hall Sentinels Youth Football Club. We aim to carry on for another five decades!
Thank you to Adrian Rushton for the photographs of Geoff and his apprentice, taken by Dave Higgleton from the Colchester Express Archives. Looking back, we have had an incredibly successful 50 years, full of fond memories such as the installation of the Christmas lights. Here’s to a prosperous future!
