Bishop Stortford College
During 2012 Bishop Stortford College embarked on a programme to extend their existing infants school, this included adding a new Science block to one end of the building and a new library and a classroom block to the other end.
Bowling Garrard Electrical where tasked with the design and build package for the power, lighting, data, Solar PV as well as emergency lighting and fire alarm systems.
We made use of LED lighting and passive infra-red detectors in most rooms to reduce the electricity consumption.
A Solar panel system was installed on the roof to meet the BREAM requirements and a meter was located at reception to indicate the amount of energy generated and being fed in to the national grid. The school benefitted from the Government’s feed in tariff scheme.
Using our in house CAD design team we were able to provide the client with detailed drawings showcasing our proposed lighting scheme.
It was important to us that the school could still function during the building works with minimal disruption.
Working closely with the school and the main contractor Elliston Steady and Hawes we were able to offer a complete package which met the schools needs and requirements.
The building was successfully handed over during 2013.
